Peter J. Santos announces candidacy for Attorney General of Guam, 2026
HAGÅTÑA, Guam — Attorney Peter J. Santos today announced his candidacy for Attorney General of Guam in the 2026 nonpartisan election, becoming the first candidate to formally enter the race.
Santos, who currently serves as an Attorney Level IV at the Office of the Alternate Public Defender of Guam, brings one of the most wide-ranging legal résumés of any candidate who has sought the office. He served approximately eight years as a Guam Police Department officer before earning his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law, and was admitted to the Guam Bar on October 14, 2015.
His post-law-school career has placed him on every side of Guam's legal system: as a U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps attorney, where he served as Chief of Administrative Law; as a prosecutor in the Office of the Attorney General under Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson; and now as a public defender representing clients who cannot afford counsel.
"I wanted to plant it in people's minds because everything that I believed that I predicted would happen has happened with this current Attorney General. The office needs leadership that is competent, ethical, and accountable — and I believe my record demonstrates that I can deliver that."
Santos is running as a nonpartisan candidate. The 2026 Attorney General race is decided at the general election on November 3, 2026.
